Cheesy Lasagna – Easy Recipe

Making your favorite Italian dish doesn’t have to be hard. Together, let’s make a quick and easy lasagna dish.

Prep time: 120  minutes       Servings: 8-10 people

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 4 cups tomato sauce
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Cooking Instructions:

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic, breaking up the beef with a wooden spoon, until the beef is browned and cooked through.
  • Add the salt, black pepper, basil, oregano, and red pepper flakes to the skillet and stir to combine.
  • Add the tomato sauce to the skillet and stir to combine. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let cook for 10 minutes.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, and parsley.
  • To assemble the lasagna, spread a thin layer of tomato sauce on the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • Layer one-third of the cooked lasagna noodles over the sauce.
  • Spread one-third of the cheese mixture over the noodles.
  • Repeat the layers of sauce, noodles, and cheese mixture two more times.
  • Cover the lasagna with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the lasagna is hot and cooked through.
  • Let the lasagna cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving

Relevant Tips & Instructions:

To save time, you can use store-bought tomato sauce instead of making your own.
If you prefer a meatless lasagna, you can leave out the ground beef and add additional vegetables, such as spinach or mushrooms.
To make the lasagna ahead of time, assemble it up to step 11, then cover and refrigerate until ready to bake. Bake as directed when ready to serve.
