1. Prepare the Mascarpone Mixture:

  • In a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and granulated sugar until pale and creamy.
  • Add the mascarpone cheese and mix until well combined and smooth. Set aside.

2. Whip the Heavy Cream:

  • In another mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. This can be done with an electric mixer or by hand with a whisk.

3. Combine Mascarpone and Whipped Cream:

  • Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully incorporated. Be careful not to overmix; the mixture should be light and airy.

4. Prepare the Coffee Soak:

  • In a shallow dish, combine the brewed espresso or coffee with the coffee liqueur, if using.

5. Assemble the Tiramisu:

  • Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.
  • Arrange a layer of dipped ladyfingers in the bottom of your serving dish.

6. Add the Mascarpone Mixture:

  • Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.

7. Repeat Layers:

  • Add another layer of dipped ladyfingers on top of the mascarpone mixture.
  • Finish with the remaining mascarpone mixture.

8. Chill and Set:

  • Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight. This chilling time allows the flavors to meld and the Tiramisu to set.

9. Dust with Cocoa:

  • Before serving, sift a generous layer of unsweetened cocoa powder over the top of the Tiramisu. This adds a beautiful contrast and a hint of bitterness to balance the sweetness.

10. Garnish and Serve: – For an extra touch of luxury, garnish your Tiramisu with dark chocolate shavings if desired.

Dip ladyfingers in coffee.
Layer dipped ladyfingers and mascarpone.
Refrigerate for 6 hours.
Dust with cocoa before serving.
